Given the nature of the property, seasonality has a direct influence on footfall. Security concerns would rise during the winter months where management anticipate a notably lower number of visitors, thus making the site much more targeted. Furthermore, the centre stands completely alone, a few miles from the nearest residential area, isolated among sea, dunes, and the Northam Burrows Country Park. CGT’s patented small-rolling shutter range, Vortex, was selected to help protect the valuable equipment inside the refurbished area of the centre, to mitigate risks of break-ins, damage, and loss. Additionally, a common challenge for coastal locations is protecting property from harsh weather conditions, so the shutters would serve as a barrier against sand and wind damage as well. Integrating security shutters for new build properties is a smoother process than for refurbishment projects because the supplier can work closely with the architect at an early construction stage to design the exact space required for the shutters. In this case, the property required a physical security solution capable of integrating within the existing construction while still accomplishing a completely unobtrusive and clean finish. The limited headroom above the openings demanded a fit-for-purpose product. Vortex Shutters have a patented lath design, built from varying sizes that allow for roll zones much smaller than standard shutters. As the Vortex shutter opens, the laths sit compactly on top of each other, requiring a radically reduced hood box and minimal lintel protrusion into the building– just as the visitor centre needed. Vortex’s unique design makes it the ideal security solution for several applications with limited headroom, from community buildings to residential and commercial properties. Not only a small-rolling alternative but Vortex shutters are also designed for stronger security. The shutter profiles are constructed from high-strength extruded aluminium and feature a unique end retention system that locks each lath into the guide rail, providing superior resistance against opportunist attackers that try their luck using bodily force and a selection of tools. Security rated options are available, including Secured by Design and LPS 1175 SR2. Vortex represents an ingenious roller shutter system that combines architectural enhancement and engineering excellence, offering vulnerable properties with limited headroom an innovative small rolling alternative. Features like perforated options that allow for visibility and airflow, a unique lath design for smaller roll zones, snap covers that conceal fixings and an extruded aluminium build, allow Vortex to offer a clean and unobtrusive security solution. https://cgtsecurity.com/
