Technical Development Days mitigate these setbacks by enabling iterative design adjustments without the time and cost constraints associated with formal testing.” “When it comes to innovation, and creating bespoke products, a quick turnaround will provide a real benefit to our customers and the roll-out of their products. Our team works together with customers to get them to market as quickly as possible, providing them with a significant competitive advantage.” As a UKAS accredited test facility, Winkhaus Laboratories plays a pivotal role in supporting innovation and accreditation for its partners. Its arrival follows the latest Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) data showing that entry via a door occurred in 72% of reported burglaries from April 2022 to March 2023. Andy Matthews, head of sales at HOPPE (UK), warns doors are still a target for opportunist burglars: “Homeowners are more aware of the need to protect their property, but they are less aware of the role that high-quality door hardware, such as a letterplate, plays in deterring and even preventing certain burglaries.” Letterbox fishing can be prevented by using a security shroud – a letterplate restrictor or security hood – on the inside of the door. The new AR708HS letterplate offers a non-restrictive door opening and features a projection of just 21mm, with a slimline cover on the inside. It has an adjustable stepped internal sleeve preventing the internal letterplate flap from being fully opened. Anti-theft steel side guard plates also offer protection while allowing mail to pass freely through. The AR708HS letterplate has been tested to The Door and Hardware Federation’s (dhf) TS 008:2022. All new doors fitted with a letterplate must pass this standard to be PAS 24 and meet document Q requirements. It has also undergone a 20,000-cycle flap test and 480-hour neutral salt spray testing on the external flap. The letterplate can be used on both 44mm and 54mm door thicknesses and is available in seven finishes matching other suited products from ARRONE. A split finish is available, combining a white flap internally with one of seven external finishes. A fire-rated version, the AR708FHS, for apartment entrance doors is available. www.hoppe.co.uk
